IceBreakers
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 7, 2026. This policy applies to the IceBreakers mobile apps for iOS and Android and the website icebreakersx.com (together, the “Services”), operated by IceBreakerX, LLC.
At a glance
- We never sell your personal information, and IceBreakers shows no third-party ads.
- Your location is used only while you are using the app, and we do not track you in the background.
- Contact matching is optional and uses one-way hashing, so your contacts’ names and phone numbers never leave your device.
- Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.
- IceBreakers is for adults 18 and older only.
- You can delete your account and data at any time in the app’s Settings or by emailing us.
1.Who We Are
IceBreakers is a nightlife social app that helps people meet in real life. It is operated by IceBreakersX, LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“IceBreakers,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
2.Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
- Account and profile information. When you register we collect your first and last name, username, email address, phone number, password, date of birth, and gender. You may also add profile details such as a bio, hobbies and interests, relationship goals, and profile photos. Profile details you add are visible to other users; provide only what you are comfortable sharing.
- Identity verification. To keep the community safe and confirm you are a real person over 18, you may be asked to record a short verification selfie video. It is used solely for verification and safety review and is not shown on your profile.
- Content you create. Posts, stories, photos, videos, captions, comments, likes, and other content you share through the app, along with related metadata such as when the content was created.
- Messages and calls. Chat messages and media you send to other users, and video calls you place through the app. Message content is stored so we can deliver your conversations across devices. We do not record video calls.
- Payment information. If you purchase a subscription, send a drink or gift offer, or tip through the app, payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Your card number is transmitted directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers; we retain only transaction records (amount, date, item) and a tokenized reference to your payment method. Stripe’s handling of your data is described in its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Reports and support. Information you provide when you report a user or post, contact support, or send us feedback.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Precise location (while in use). With your permission, we collect your device’s GPS location while you are using the app to show you nearby people, venues, and events. We do not collect your location when the app is in the background, and we do not use geofencing. You can turn location access off at any time in your device settings; some features will not work without it.
- Device information. Device model, operating system and version, app version, language, IP address, and a push-notification token so we can deliver notifications to your device.
- Usage and diagnostic data. How you interact with the app (such as features used, screens viewed, and session length), collected through Google Firebase Analytics, and crash logs collected through Firebase Crashlytics. We use this data in aggregate to fix problems and improve the app.
2.3 Contacts (optional)
If you choose to use contact matching to find friends on IceBreakers, the phone numbers in your address book are converted on your device into irreversible cryptographic hashes before anything is sent to us. We compare those hashes against hashes of registered users to suggest connections. Your contacts’ names, raw phone numbers, and photos never leave your device, and we do not build shadow profiles of people who are not IceBreakers users. Contact access is optional, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings.
2.4 Information from third-party sign-in
If you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive basic account information from that provider (such as your name, email address, and profile photo), as permitted by your settings with them. We do not receive your password for those services.
3.How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and maintain your account and operate the Services;
- Show you nearby people, venues, and events, and enable signals, matching, chat, and video calls;
- Verify identity and age, prevent fraud and spam, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the community safe, including reviewing reported content and accounts;
- Process payments, subscriptions, and in-app offers, and maintain your transaction history;
- Send you service notifications (such as new messages, signals, or friend requests) and, with your consent where required, marketing communications you can opt out of at any time;
- Understand how the app is used, diagnose crashes, and improve features;
- Respond to your support requests; and
- Comply with legal obligations and protect our legal rights.
We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not serve third-party ads in the app.
4.How We Share Information
4.1 With other users
Your profile (name, username, photos, bio, and the details you choose to add), your posts and stories, your approximate presence at a venue, and your activity status are visible to other users according to the audience and visibility settings you choose. Messages you send are visible to their recipients. Please remember that anything you share with other people can be saved or reshared by them.
4.2 With service providers
We share information with a small number of vendors who process it on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us:

| Hosting and infrastructure providers | Running our servers and delivering content | Data stored and transmitted by the Services |
4.3 For legal reasons and safety
We may access, preserve, and share information in response to a valid legal request (such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant); when we believe in good faith it is necessary to detect, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, security issues, or violations of our Terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of IceBreakers, our users, or the public, including to prevent imminent harm.
4.4 Business transfers
If IceBreakers is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or part of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or in how your personal information is handled.
4.5 What we don’t do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing. We have not sold or shared personal information within the meaning of applicable US state privacy laws in the preceding 12 months.
5.Your Choices and Controls

- Contacts. Contact matching is optional; you can decline or revoke access in your device settings.
- Notifications. Manage push notifications in the app’s settings or your device settings.
- Profile visibility. Control what appears on your profile and who can see your activity from the app’s privacy settings.
- Blocking and reporting. You can block any user, and report users or content that violate our guidelines, directly in the app.
- Marketing. Opt out of marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in any message; we will still send essential service communications.
6.Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and similar US state privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete your personal information;
- Portability: receive a copy of your information in a usable format;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising (we do not sell or share personal information or engage in targeted advertising); and
- Non-discrimination: we will never penalize you for exercising your privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@icebreakersx.com from the email address on your account, or use the tools in the app’s Settings. We will verify your request using information associated with your account and respond within the time required by law. You may also use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will require proof of authorization. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
7.Data Retention and Account Deletion
We keep your personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services and for the purposes described in this policy. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, posts, and messages are removed from view immediately and deleted from our systems within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and repeat abuse, or complete financial reporting (transaction records are retained as required by tax and payment regulations).
8.Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, hashed storage of passwords and contact data, and access controls limiting who at IceBreakers can view user data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
9.Age Requirement and Children’s Privacy
IceBreakers is intended solely for adults 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create an account, and we request date of birth at registration. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will terminate the account and delete its data. If you believe a minor is using the Services, please contact us at support@icebreakersx.com.
10.International Users
The Services are operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the US, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
11.Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect and give you the opportunity to review them. The “Effective date” at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
